Fishy island

The incorporation of landscape is iconic imagary does suggest that Erik Erik Johansson is expressing concerns about the environment and landscape. Seeing how the images depict that nature is being invaded or replace by man made things shows that the environment is suffering and is altered. There are influences of Escher in his work:  Up and Down, Relativity,  Castle in the Air, and Drawing Hands. But I am not able to see the influence from Magritte.
