Using Gray to Help Soften White and Black

I was looking for music on-line for possible showcase material to use at a dance competition and I cam across Big & Rich – Lost In This Moment. I really like this song – the phrasing of the music demonstrates the great pitch and range of the song and instrumentals. I would use this and  would have fun playing on the words and dance steps to showcase a couple’s feelings and relationship. But in terms of black and white – I really like how the set is all white and the band members are  in black suits. But what really helps this music video be successful is the use of gray. The use of gray was displayed with the use of the stark white set, the black suite sand the use of lighting. The lights placed under the stage and over head helps with reflecting the white off the white and then intensifying the shadows where the light doesn’t hit.  But the use of the black and white wedding photos in the background help sets and keep the tone – it works with the over all look of the video.
