Black, Blue and Leather – Classy and Elegant not Dark and Gloomy

For the 12th season of Project Runway the designers are pushing the envelope. Not just in their designs but also with the limits as a designer and person. This season has been all over the place with the drama and the breakdowns  — I have seen the evolution of the design and designers  and how much more is put into a design then ever. Every season the designers and designs grow but this season has more emotion then ever, I take it that the fashion industry is expecting much more than more then ever since design and fashion trends are changing faster. But any way last night was impressive- create a high fashion  look from the experience of an outdoor nature trip. Alexander Pope has designed this look and I love it. It clean, classy, elegant with out being dark and costumey. The Fit on this dress is amazing but the use of paint to make tree branch silhouette added depth and texture. I’m impressed with the use of leather on the train  and nice surprise and touch to add a semi-wet look. I would have liked to see if the  seem of the leather to the dress was not so straight line. I  wonder if Alexander  could cut the tree branch lines in the leather  one to three feet from the connecting seem and match up the leather lines to the patterns line he paint  on the dress? Not sure of that will help with the transition from material to material or take away from the leather, the dress and the over all look? But I like it anyway and so excited to  see the rest of the season.
