A Little Romance

November 6, 2011 1 comment

This song I saw on MTV and I really like the tone and video (Christina Perri – A Thousand Years from Twlight Breaking Dawn) – it’s a sad romantic song but seems very mystical. I guess for the Twilight Saga (I have nt seen them) it seems to fit the mood. I really like the contrast of the darkness of her singing and then reflecting on the happy and light memories? The use of black and white here is not classy but whimsical – I guess magical and how love in time can transform into something amazing after the wait and hardship. There is enough rhythm change visually and lyrically that the story is clearly presented.  It’s not depressing – seems to be a little hopefully of love.

I hope to use this music for showcase – I am trying to find music that I can show case my dance but to push my self as a choreographer. I like to tell stories or present a thought for everyone to ponder.

I heard this on the radio and I thought it was a risqué song, DEV – In The Dark. I really like the lyrics, the tempo and approach to the music. I found the music video on youtube and liked the song even more. The video has more of an artistic approach and the black white really works. There seems to be styles of grunge, modern and elegance – I think the video does reflect the songs components (music and lyrics). I’m thinking of using this music as a showcase…

Black is not just classy but edgy

This video depicts a lot of emotion and passion. The lyrics and dancing are a new twist on ballroom. As the change in music advances so do the dance moves. Ballroom does try to keep up with this new take on music, but the traditional styling is preferred in the end of the day for most.  But the entire tone that is set by the music, the dance moves and attire really puts a classy edgy look to this video. With the use of black there is the classic clean look but the application on the asymmetrical attire and setting really transforms the performance to a whole new level. There is a hint of grunge and edge but over allclassy with a hint of sophistication.

The classic look…

As a ballroom dancer this performance was amazing, besides the fact I am a really big fan of  Anna and Jonathan, and the use of black and white really created an interesting  look and feel of the over performance. There is some thing whimsical and magical of the performance. Along with the song, costumes and the setting the entire performance transported you to a dream in the classic old hollywood era– full of class and romance.

I just admire how these professionals make it seem so effortless. I work hard hours in the studio and its a struggle to get the movements so fluid and facial expressions so on spot.
